Food Hunt

When it rains these massive black ants come out and it's actually fun to watch them because they always travel in a straight line and never waver.
Their bites can be quite painful but I thought I'd get up close and try and take a few photographs.

The fact that they move really fast doesn't really help but I was able to get a few good ones. This is the one of the smaller ants - yes, smaller. There are ants twice their size but they were moving just too fast.
This one stopped for a moment to pick up something and gave me my shot.
Just look at those compound eyes!

Ghastly Figure

So this past winter the fog was really thick one night and I decided to shoot a few self-portraits (if you can call it that). I tried a few with torches and other stuff and this is one of those.

It's surprising how many test shots end up turning out to the some of the best.

White Beauty

Roses are really beautiful. They're beautiful throughout their rather short lives (ok some last really long).

This particular rose didn't last very long but it brightened our garden while it was there. First the lower/outer petals dried and fell off and then the inner ones.

Warm and Cozy

Remember those eggs I found? Well I decided to use a few props to take a few more pictures.

The basket if from my sister's wedding and so is the net I put below that.
All this was taken in a single shot. It was tricky and took quite a few tries to get it right and not have anything burnt out. Except for the lights under the net everything else was just simple light painting.

Always Watchful

This was a rather unexpected encounter. I just peeped out of the window and noticed this Oriental Garden Lizard on the fence. I grabbed my camera a got a few quick shots before it noticed me and ran off and climbed this lemon tree.

This was rather unexpected but gave me quite a few good shots.

Beginning Of The Night

I though I would timelapse this entire sunset. It turned out ok but I don't think I'll release it.

This was one of the last of these sunsets that we had.

To The Jump

A friend of mine had a visitor today - a tiny, cute baby sparrow and it reminded me of this shot I'd taken.

This sparrow seemed undecided and it just kept looking at the ground and then back at the next post on the fence. It finally jumped onto that and then to the ground below.
