The Real Flower

Most people think that the pink petals are part of the flower. That's not really true. Those pink "petals" are just leaves.

The real flower is the tiny white one in the centre. The entire plant is beautiful no doubt but the real flower is tiny.

A Small Part

Here is another extreme macro shot. This time of a really tiny flower.

The entire flower itself couldn't have a diameter larger than 2 centimetres and it's stamens (the male part of the flower) is really tiny. So tiny infact that you wouldn't notice it unless you were really really close to the flower.

I had noticed it before when I'd shot it but never really got to get so close. I absolutely love this. It's like a whole new world.

Macro Beauty

I've just got into shooting extreme macro photographs and it's awesome.

I've been blown away by the beauty that lies in the world - even in things that are so tiny that they are ignored.

This is a tiny part of a larger flower. I don't know the name but it has red petals and yellow part inside.

The Flower In Pink

I am amazed by the number of days some flowers last. They just don't seem to fade.

Which is a really good thing. This is one of those flowers. There are so very many on one single plant and it looks beautiful. You can hardly see any leaves - just flowers.

Looking Down

There are some awesome flowers in my mom's garden and this particular plant has a unique pattern.

The largest flowers are always on top and the newer, smaller ones are lower down.

I decided to use this perspective because it looks like the flowers are looking down on the others. That's kinda pessimistic I know but the opposite "looking up" perspective wasn't working out.

Through The Foliage

My mom recently bought some really pretty flowers. They look amazing and I'm surprised at how long they last.

This particular one is one of my favourites. It's been there for over three weeks now and doesn't seem to be fading. It's just beautiful.

Just beside that are some plants with leaves that have a little bit of pink in them and I thought they matched perfectly. So I wanted a frame with both in it at the same time.

Depths Of Beauty

A friend of mine recently got a new camera and he wanted some help with it, so we met up and spent some time taking pictures.

The place he was staying at had some really pretty flower. This particular one was my favourite.

My camera had a really tough time focusing for some reason so I had to switch to Manual Focus for this. It's time like this that make me wish I had steady hands :P

Different From The Others

I really love photographing flowers. There are so many different ways you can shoot just one flower.

My mom just bought some beautiful new flowers but I wasn't able to take pictures because I got home late from class. Will try and get some shots tomorrow.

Took this picture during a recent trip to Darjeeling. We stopped at Batasia Loop and the garden was stunning!

Towards The Source

This is a plant that is underrated. Sure, it's a wild plant and just grows on its own but it does have some really pretty flowers.

Another thing is that these flowers last for weeks. It adds colour to this world so I just don't get it when people say that it should be destroyed.

I would understand if it was getting in the way and stopping you from doing something else but if it's just growing on its own then there should be no problem but people have still always maintained that we should get rid of it for no reason.

Fortunately we didn't and it grew tall and these beautiful flowers blossomed :)

Full Bloom

This is one of the pictures that will probably be in my Best of 2013 video that I'm currently putting together.
It's quite difficult trying to pick favourites from your own pictures.

Anyway this pretty flower was just growing by the wayside and I'm glad I took a picture of it when I did because it had been trampled to the ground when I saw it the next day.

Which reminds me of how the beauty of this place is lost on the people that live here. So I'm going to make it my goal to showcase the best of the beauty of this place. When I get a new camera I'll start timelapses, long exposures and other new things because there are just so many things to be photographed.

Pink and Pretty

A day's break from landscape photographs  :D

Here is a pretty little pink flower that I saw a couple of weeks back. The was just one plant with pink flower - all the others had yellow flowers on them so these flowers really stood out.

Unfortunately they were all spread out and on uneven ground (it was a hill) so i couldn't really get them both in one picture but I was told they were all part of the same garden.

Standing Out

It is important to stand out from the crowd at time and yet it is also important to blend it when necessary. Maintaining a balance can not only be tricky but also difficult.

Yup, I'm done with the philosophy stuff :P

This one was taken at a place on the way to Darjeeling (not sure of the exact name). It wasn't a village or anything. Just a lookout with this small bed of flowers near it. The flowers were beautiful (as you can probably tell).

This particular one caught my attention. Don't ask me why because I honestly don't know.

Just Hanging

We saw these beautiful flower at a place called Batasia Loop in Darjeeling. That's a place that I've spoke of in one of my previous blog posts.

There are quite a few pictures from this place as it is really beautiful, specially when there are pretty flowers like this particular one.

Anyway the Auto Focus on the SX50 isn't particularly great when it comes to macro shots and even though I manually shifted the focus point it still didn't do a great job.

Yellow Beauty

On a recent trip to a nearby hill-station we stopped at a watch-tower sort of place to take in the view. Although the fog was really thick and we couldn't see more than a few feet in front of us, we weren't completely disappointed because of all the pretty flowers in that place.

While the others were busy trying to see how far off into the distance they could see, I decided to photograph there amazing flowers.

There were so many of them and they were just beautiful.

The SX50 HS isn't one for great bokeh so I had to improvise. After a few adjustment layers, I added the iris blur filter. If you don't have that in Photoshop then you should try out the lens blur filter.

Little Wonder

If you'd pointed to this particular plant a month back and told me that it would flower soon I would have thought you'd gone bonkers because we've had it for many years without any flowers.

Surprisingly the day i decided to wander around the garden I came across this unassuming plant with these tiny flowers that were just stunning and I'm not in the least bit joking.

Bed Of Flowers

We came across this bed of flowers and we just had to stop to take in the amazing view.

Of course the others where gazing at the mountains in the distance but I couldn't help but look down and take a few shots of these flowers.

They were just so pretty and there were hundreds of them. It was great!

Red Beauty

We'd gone to Darjeeling recently but the weather was horrible so we couldn't see anything. The clouds would only clear for a few seconds and the fog just wouldn't go away.

So instead of trying to shoot the landscape I decided to switch to flowers. Plus there were quite a few there so that was good because we couldn't see more than a few meters ahead.

Plus the mist that was there made the flowers look really nice with the water droplets on them.

Red Bloom

It's late. I haven't slept well in days and I'm really tired so forgive me for mistakes.

This is an iPhone picture of a bunch (or single) of reddish-orange flowers that look really amazing.

The nectar is just as sweet as the flowers are beautiful.

White Wonder

I have no idea what these pretty white flowers are called but they are just beautiful.

Gorgeous really. You would easily overlook them because they are quite tiny but when you look closer you can really appreciate their beauty. It's really amazing.

The macro world has so many surprises. There is so much just waiting to be explored and seen but we are too busy to notice these tiny yet truly amazing things.

A Pretty One

Flowers are just great. So vibrant, pretty and diverse. Plus most of them smell good too :D

They always make for good photo opportunities. Sometimes they can definitely be a challenge but when you get that one picture that is just right it more than makes up for it.

There isn't just one way to photograph flowers and I think as long as you are able to capture it's beauty and you are happy with it, that's the way to go.

Spring is long gone and you won't see a lot of flowers nowadays but this little beauty was in full bloom in the hills. It was pretty amazing too - the hills not far behind and this pretty little thing blooming there.
